Dr. Nadeesha Kalyani is a physiotherapist who graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Ph.D. from the  Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia. Her research is centered around neurological rehabilitation, with a specific focus on Parkinson’s disease.

Currently holding the positions of Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and overseeing the neurological physiotherapy clinic at the Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, affiliated with the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dr. Kalyani plays a pivotal role in advancing physiotherapy education and practice.

As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) of the QUT Academy of Learning and Teaching, Dr. Kalyani is dedicated to creating a transformative learning environment for her students. She has also contributed her expertise as a Sessional Academic with the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at QUT.

Dr. Kalyani’s commitment to teaching excellence is underscored by her completion of the Certificate in Teaching and Higher Education program, awarded by the Staff Development Centre at the University of Colombo. Her Teaching Portfolio has been accredited by the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA), UK, emphasizing her dedication to effective and impactful teaching practices.

Her research interests span a wide spectrum, including Neurological and Gerontology Physiotherapy, Biomechanics, Gait, and Balance Training. With extensive experience working with patients facing neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and spinal cord injuries, Dr. Kalyani brings a profound understanding to her research, aiming to uncover novel, evidence-based approaches to optimize patient outcomes and enhance their overall quality of life.
