Primary education at Ladies College, Colombo. Qualified from Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Nepal and was awarded the medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Kathmandu in June 1999. Obtained MD in Anaesthesiology by the University of Colombo in March 2010 and was board certified in March 2012 as a Consultant Anaesthetist with special training in Intensive Care.

Awarded the fellowship by the Royal College of Anaesthetists (England) in June 2012 and certificate in Teaching in Higher Education by the University of Colombo and Staff Education Development Association (SEDA) United Kingdom in November 2016.

Awarded first place in Community Medicine at the final MBBS examination and certificate of Honour in Forensic Medicine, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology. Received the B.S Perera prize for having obtained the highest marks at part 1A MD in Anaesthesiology conducted by the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo and was awarded the Laddie Fernando gold medal at MD Anaesthesiology part II.

She is the current secretary of the Board of study in Anaesthesiology. She was secretary scientific affairs of the College of Anaesthesiologists & Intensivists of Sri Lanka from 2013-2016 and a council member in 2017. She is an instructor at the European Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support (ERC/ALS) courses, a Generic Instructor Trainer (GIC- UK) and an Educator of the European Resuscitation Council. A member of the Working Committee on Resuscitation of the College of Anaesthesiologists & Intensivists of Sri Lanka and a trainer at the National Trauma Management course and Decision Making in Major Trauma (DMMT) course conducted by the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka. She is an associate editor of the Sri Lanka Journal of Surgery.

Research interests includes perioperative medicine, trauma care and resuscitation medicine.
