Dr. Champika Gamakaranage graduated from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenapura in 2006 with Second Class Honors. He completed MD in Medicine in University of Colombo in 2013 and the MRCP (UK) in 2016. Postgraduate overseas training was in the United Kingdom as a Specialist Registrar in Oxford University Hospital (NHS Foundation Trust) for about two years. He board certified in General Internal Medicine in 2015 and worked as a Consultant Physician in Base Hospital Medirigiriaya and Cheddikulm Hospitals prior to held in the current post as a Senior Lecturer in Medicine (Temporary), in the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Colombo since September 2018.

He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has conducted few original researches. He is a peer reviewer to several international journals and an Editorial board member to few international journals. His PhD theme interests in developing an anti-diabetic drug from a Sri Lankan herbal plant.
