Teaching Experience

Undergraduate

  • In the MB BS and BSc Physiotherapy programmes of our Faculty, I deliver lectures on infectious disease and medical ethics & professionalism, as well as bedside teaching in clinical medicine.

Postgraduate

  • I taught the Learning, Teaching and Assessment course unit in the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, Staff Development Centre, University of Colombo
  • Examiner PGIM – MD (Medicine), including chief examiner for selection examination written, selection examination OSCE, MD theory, MD communication skills.
  • Examiner PGIM – in Medicine for Anaesthesiology, Clinical Haematology, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Family Medicine, Oncology, Palliative Medicine, Psychiatry.
  • I have taught in several multi-disciplinary programmes: medical sociology (Master in Sociology and MA Applied Sociology, Faculty of Arts); research ethics (MPhil/PhD, Faculty of Graduate Studies); several modules in the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Development, Faculty of Medicine.
  • I have been a member of the teaching faculty of the ExcelPACES course at Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum, India, which was the first course accredited by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of UK for its MRCP (UK) PACES examination.
  • I delivered the commencement lecture of the BA (Special Degree) Buddhist Studies programme, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo in 2015 on ‘An anthropology of knowledge.’
  • I have delivered lectures at national-level in infectious disease (over 75); ethics, professionalism and medical humanities (over 25); postgraduate medicine (over 75); as well as general medicine and communication skills.
