Dr. Aruni Gallage graduated from Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo in 2015 in MBBS degree programme with second-class upper division honours and a distinction for Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. She also has first-class honours in Community Medicine and a second-class upper division honours for Behavioural Sciences. She won Prof. Dulitha Fernando gold medal for the best performance in Community Medicine in year 2015.

After graduation she served as an intern medical officer (2015-2016) and a relief house officer in Chemical Pathology (2016-2017) at Provincial General Hospital Badulla. Dr. Aruni has started her academic career as a Lecturer in the department of Community Medicine at the end of year 2017.

She has successfully completed the MSc in Community Medicine in the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo in 2020 and was awarded Dr C. H. Piyaratne Memorial Gold Medal for Best Performance in MSc Community Medicine in 2021.

She is currently reading for MD in Community Medicine in the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo.
