Academic and Professional Journey<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr.\u00a0Kulanatha’s journey in Indigenous Medicine began in 1996 as a medical officer in the Department of Ayurveda.\u00a0She quickly rose through the ranks at the National Institute for Traditional Medicine (NITM),\u00a0where she actively contributed to the field by sharing ancestral Ayurveda practices,\u00a0lecturing in the “Ayurveda Shastrie” program,\u00a0and authoring the handbook “Dina Charya” for school students.\u00a0She further extended her passion for Ayurveda education by conducting impactful school programs to foster awareness among students in the Colombo district.<\/p>\n Her academic pursuits showcase a commitment to continuous learning.\u00a0She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Development (2000) and has conducted research on increasing urban awareness of indigenous medicine.\u00a0Since 1999,\u00a0she has been a dedicated lecturer at the Institute of Indigenous Medicine,\u00a0University of Colombo,\u00a0earning accreditation as a teacher in higher education (2000).<\/p>\n In her pursuit of advanced knowledge,\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Kulanatha obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the prestigious Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS),\u00a0Banaras Hindu University (BHU) of India (2006).\u00a0She also holds specializations in Ayurveda Samhita,\u00a0Sanskrit,\u00a0and Yoga instruction from BHU.<\/p>\n A pioneer in her field,\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Kulanatha was the first grantee to complete her postgraduate program under the NCAS grant.This achievement led to her serving as Orator at the 2008 NCAS inauguration and a valued resource person in the NCAS PhD Training programs.\u00a0Her expertise is internationally recognized,\u00a0evidenced by her role as a keynote speaker at numerous conferences on Ayurveda,\u00a0Unani,\u00a0Siddha,\u00a0and Traditional Medicine.<\/p>\n Contributions to Administration and the Wider Community<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr.\u00a0Kulanatha’s contributions extend beyond academics.\u00a0She has held various administrative positions at the Institute of Indigenous Medicine,\u00a0including department head,\u00a0chief student counselor,\u00a0and sectional head,\u00a0and has served on numerous official boards.\u00a0She actively participates in international seminars,\u00a0steering committees,\u00a0and scientific sessions,and also serves as a scientific paper reviewer.<\/p>\n Her dedication to educational excellence is demonstrated by her recent ISO 21001 certification for educational management systems and her active involvement in conducting workshops on student-centered teaching and learning.<\/p>\n Beyond the university,\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Kulanatha has actively served the broader community through her roles on the Executive Committees of the Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka Branch,\u00a0the Population Association of Sri Lanka,\u00a0and SLAIHEE (Sri Lanka Association for Improving Higher Education Effectiveness).\u00a0She also served as a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Council.<\/p>\n Dr.\u00a0Pushpa Kulanatha’s illustrious career exemplifies a lifelong dedication to Ayurveda.\u00a0Her passion for education,research,\u00a0and community service has significantly contributed to the advancement of Indigenous Medicine in Sri Lanka and beyond.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Academic Leadership & 40-Year Legacy<\/strong> Dr. Pushpa Kulanatha is a distinguished academic leader at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.
