BIOGRAPHY<\/h1>\n[vc_column_text]Assoc Prof. P. R. Waratenne assumed duties as a probationary lecturer of the Department of Ayurveda, Institute of indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo on 2nd August 1993. She is a Senior academic (Grade II) in Ayurveda Shareera kriya in Unit of Shareera Vighnana\/Unit of Allied Sciences from 2nd August 1998. She is a senior academic (Grade I) since 10th August 2010, having qualification of BAMS first class Honors (1990) from University of Colombo, MD (Ayu) \u2013 Shareera Kriya (1997) from Banaras Hindu University – India and PhD (Ayu) (2014) from Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurveda University, Jodhpur \u2013 India and several other short training programmes.
\nAssoc Prof. Waratenne is the first academic specialized in Ayurveda Shareera Kriya in Sri Lanka. Having the teaching experience about 22 years she has trained undergraduate and post graduate scholars by helping in the development of BAMS curriculum as the Chairperson as well as member in many years to the field of Ayurveda. As the Head of the Department of Ayurveda as well as the Head of Unit of Allied Sciences and Unit of Shareera Vighnana she served as an administrative positions.
\nAssoc Prof. Waratenne has a research experience in national and international collaboration. She has supervised research in MPhil (Ayu) Thesis, PGD (Ayu) research projects and UG (BAMS) research projects. Her research interests, mainly on Prakriti related works and chemical analysis and clinical research as well. She has published over 18 full papers in peer reviewed journals and 28 Abstracts. She has done about 16 presentations in national and international conferences. She has delivered orations and keynote speeches to prestigious institutions that include the National & International conferences (ICAUST & NSTM).
\nOther than that she has done collaborative works with National Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Ayurveda Medical Council, Department of Ayurveda, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Post Graduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine, provincial Ayurveda Department, Helpage – Sri Lanka etc. to supporting issues of national relevance for the betterment of the society. Other than attending the NATH she has participated mobile health camp in several time conducted at Anuradhapura, Katharagama etc. for supporting the acute health issues during religious festival seasons and organized mobile health camp in several places of the country.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″]
