C. E. Advanced Level Examination in 1996. He was able to get 320 marks out of 400 and win the first district rank and twenty fifth of Island in arts stream of A\/L exam. As an undergraduate he followed Sanskrit (Special) programme and completed it successfully obtaining a Second Class \u2013 Upper Division pass in 2003. He has also obtained the Pracheena Pandit Degree which is conducted by The Oriental Studies Society of Sri Lanka, Ministry of Education in 1998. This Pandit degree is equivalent to BA degree in Sri Lankan universities. He continued his association with the Peradeniya University by joining the University as a temporary lecturer and worked at Department of Classical Languages for nine months. While he was engaged in teaching at University of Peradeniya he won a placement clearing the entrance examination to follow a MA\/MPhil programme at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>He has successfully completed his MA degree in 2006 and and MPhil in 2009. After his MPhil he got admission to the PhD programme clearing again the entrance examination at Jawararlal Nehru University and successfully completed and awarded the degree in 2014. \u00a0While reading for his PhD he has served the JNU as a Guest Faculty for one year.<\/p>\n<p>After his PhD Dr. Wendabona joined Institute of Indigenous Medicine (IIM), University of Colombo as a Visiting Lecturer and taught there till 2016. Since 2016 he is working at IIM as a permanent faculty. Apart from his teaching at IIM he is teaching to PG students at Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya, and\u00a0 Postgraduate Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Peradeniya as a Visiting Lecturer.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his teaching at IIM, he was appointed to various academic support posts such as student counselor, advisor for students\u2019 aesthetic affairs. He has presented number of research papers at both national and international conferences. He has also published one book and number of papers and articles in various journals and volumes.
