In this paper I argue that there is a contradictory dual approach in the way Sri Lankans (who live in Sri Lanka) view Sri Lankan migrants who are living elsewhere. On one hand, they view Sri Lankan migrants as a financial resource and on the other hand, as a group of disloyal Sri Lankan citizens. I call this as an unhealthy approach to imagine Sri Lankan migrants and instead suggest the need to revisit this approach.
