She has served for the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, UK and the Medical School and Dental Institute of the University of Aberdeen.<\/p>\n<p>She has several publications in academic journals, and numerous abstracts to her credit. She has peer-reviewed several journal papers. Her research interests are in bacteriology of deep-seated collections of pus, antimicrobial resistance and microbiome dynamics and systemic Candida infections\/ other mycoses. She has won the President\u2019s Award for Scientific Research (Sri Lanka National Research Council, for 2019\/2020) and several prizes for oral and poster presentations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities in Medical Microbiology, she serves as the Programme Coordinator of the PG Diploma in Gender &amp; Health conducted by the faculty and continues with her passion and many activities related to Gender and Women\u2019s Studies. She&#8217;s actively engaged in advancing the field of Medical Microbiology in Sri Lanka.
