ResearchGate<\/a><\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/li><\/ul>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=”3\/4″][vc_column_text]Professor Enoka Corea is the Chair Professor of Microbiology and professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology of Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.<\/p>\nShe graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo with Second Class Upper Division and a Distinction in Medicine in 1991. She completed the Diploma in Medical Microbiology In 1996 and the MD in Medical Microbiology in 1999 from the University of Colombo. She obtained her PhD from the University of Peradeniya in 2017.<\/p>\n
She started her career as an Intern in Medicine and Surgery, National Hospital of Sri Lanka in 1992. She developed her career path as a Medical Officer (Pathology) in Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya and a Medical Officer (Virology) in Medical Research Institute from 1993 to 1994. She trained at the City Hospital NHS Trust in Birmingham U.K. from 2001 to 2003 and was board certified as a specialist in Medical Microbiology. At the same time she was awarded the Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education of the Staff Development Centre, University of Colombo and SEDA, U.K. with accreditation as a teacher in Higher Education.<\/p>\n
Professor Corea joined the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo as a lecturer in Microbiology in 1994. She was the Chairperson, Ethics Review Committee, since 2017 to 2022 and is a member of the Ethics Committee of the SLMA. She has received National Research Council and UGC grants to carry out her research activities. She has supervised many MD and MPhil students. Professor Corea has published numerous chapters in books and has over 20 publications in peer reviewed journals and over 50 communications, winning awards at national and international conferences.
