He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of\u00a0\u00a0Colombo with Second Class Honours in 1992. He commenced his surgical training in 1995 and completed the MS (Surgery) in 1999 and passed the FRCS (England) and the FRCS (Edin) in 2000.
