She is a clinical psychologist by profession. She graduated from the University of Delhi, India, with a bachelors and masters degree, and her doctorate was from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She co-founded Sri Lanka\u2019s first and only post-graduate professional clinical psychology training program, the M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Colombo.
