Professor Shamya de Silva

Kirikankanange Shamya Harshini de Silva joined the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo as a Senior Lecturer in September 1991 and was subsequently promoted to the current position of Professor in Paediatrics in November 2009. She is a honorary Consultant Paediatrician attached to the University Unit at Lady Ridgeway Hospital since September 1991.

She has a special interest in Endocrinology and was responsible for establishing the first Endocrine Clinic at LRH in October 2001 and the Obesity and Diabetes Clinic in January 2004. She was the Chairperson of the sub-committee appointed by the Board of Study in Paediatrics of the PGIM to draw up the prospectus for higher specialist training in Paediatric Endocrinology and was the first trainer in this sub specialty.
