  • National Guidelines for reporting common malignancies were compiled (2006-07) under the auspices of the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka through the World Bank funded Health Sector Development Project.
  • Guidelines developed were published by The Ministry of Health as National guidelines through the World Bank funded Health Sector Development Project ISBN 978-955-9093-43-5 (2007).
  • During the presidential tenure of the college of Pathologists of Sri Lanka (2006), initiated a dialog with the British division if the IAP, resulting in a biannual international histopathology conference, jointly organized by the British division of IAP and the College of Pathologists of Sri Lanka. 6 ICON conferences have been held so far.
  • A member of the expert panel that developed ‘Guidelines for reporting cervical cytology in Sri Lanka’ under the auspices of the Family health bureau, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka and UNFPA.
  • Guidelines developed were published as a hand book by the Family Health Bureau. 2006 and revised and reprinted in 2010
  • Contributed to the development of the National cervical cancer screening programme at its inception, by contributing to training several batches of cytoscreeners for the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. (1998)
  • Pioneered the departmental Immunohistochemistry laboratory, as the first immunohistochemistry laboratory in Colombo, Sri Lanka and the first laboratory to offer breast immune prognostic markers in the country. (1997)
