The Diploma in Astronomy is a one-year course, which is designed for students who have studied the Certificate Course in Astronomy, or who have a similar level of knowledge and experience. The course will allow you to develop a broader perspective on astronomical phenomena and practical methods to investigate them, as well as deeper understanding research methods. You will build up astronomical knowledge across all physical scales from planets to the Universe. You will also gain practical skills in using telescopes and related data gathering instruments and interpreting astronomical data using computer
\napplications.<\/p>\n
You will delve deeper into topics covered and explore more advanced concepts. A particular focus will be the variety of techniques used by astronomers, both historically and in current research, and you will learn how observational evidences combine with theoretical concepts.<\/p>\n
Completion of GCE Advanced Level in Physical Science\/Biological Science\/ Technology OR pass London Advanced Level in Mathematics\/Physics OR GCE Ordinary Level with a medal in an Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad conducted at national or international level.<\/p>\n
The course will be conducted in hybrid mode (physical and online) on Saturdays\/Sundays from 8.30 am 12.30 pm. The course duration is one year.<\/p>\n
