Scientific Creations/Innovations

  • Establishment of the Sri Lanka Association for Laboratory Animal Science (SLALAS) in December 2012
  • Establishment of the 3Rs Centre in Laboratory Animal Science in Sri Lanka

Purpose:

With the establishment of this Centre, plan is to inculcate 3R principle of laboratory animal science (LAS) among researchers. This will be the first 3R center in Sri Lanka and de facto in South East Asia to maximize replacement models (Replacement) for research and education while reducing the number of animals (Reduction) breed and use for research purposes leading to reduction of animal suffering (Refinement).
