Dr. Nilanka Anjalee Wickramasinghe

Dr. Nilanka Wickramasinghe nee Munesinghe, graduated from Colombo Medical faculty in 2013 with 2^nd Upper Class Honours. She joined the department of Physiology at Colombo Medical Faculty in 2018 as a Lecturer in Physiology and completed her Master’s in Human Nutrition & Post graduate certificate in Medical Education from the University of Colombo in 2019. She received the Gold medal for the Best Student of Post Graduate Institute of Medicine for PG Certificate and Diploma category for the same year. She is currently reading for her PhD in Gastrointestinal Physiology and its application in Gastro Oesophageal reflux disease.

Dr. Nilanka Wickramasinghe has so far 6 publications in peer-reviewed journals and numerous abstracts and presentations to her name. She has received the Presidential Awards for Scientific Publication twice for years 2015 and 2014 from National Research Council and received the Merit award for Scientific Publication for year 2016 as well.

Her research interests range from immunology, nutrition to gastrointestinal physiology.

She is also interested in research and development and has applied for 2 patents, with one in the field of nutrition as a portion control method.

She is the Convener of the Language Unit as well as the Extension courses committee of Colombo Medical Faculty and is involved in many activities in the faculty.

On the sidelines, Dr. Nilanka is also a professionally trained musician with a Licentiate (LTCL) in vocals from Trinity College London as well as an Associate (ATCL) in piano music from Trinity College London.
