\u201cTwenty-five years ago, people could be excused for not knowing much, or doing much, about climate change. Today we have no excuse.\u201d \u2014 Desmond Tutu<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Irrespective of the geographical boundaries, everyone is susceptible to the impacts of climate change including sea level rise, frequent occurrences of droughts and floods, higher temperatures, increase in rainfall- and landslide intensities, as well as increased frequencies of pests and disease outbreaks.\u00a0 Therefore it is a timely need to do more research in the field of climate change. Climate change is an interdisciplinary subject with a potential to conduct research in collaboration with many other institutions including private and public entities.<\/p>\n The main objective of the research group is to conduct research targeting Climate Change mitigation, Greenhouse gas inventorying, environmental issues and carbon cycle-related research and education in Sri Lanka and within the South Asian region.
