- Outstanding Contributions to the University of Colombo
- I have established the Diabetes Research Unit in the Faculty of Medicine and given the opportunity for more than 40 medical doctors to have research training. In addition to their research exposure in Sri Lanka 20 of them have had short training programs in the University of Oxford and 4 of them in other overseas research programs. Nearly three dozen peer reviewed publications have been produced through this unit over the last 6 years.
