BIOGRAPHY

Dr. WKBDS Fernando is currently working as a Lecturer (Probationary) at the Department of Ayurveda Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics and Community Medicine of Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.

Dr. Fernando studied at Holy Family Convent Kalutara and entered the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo in 2001. She has obtained BAMS with a First class honors and awarded Dr. Jayantha Edirisinghe prize for obtaining the highest average at the final BAMS examination in 2007. She has given her service to the Institute of Indigenous Medicine as a demonstrator for the department of Prasuti Tantra and Kaumarabritya in 2009-2010. Then she joined as an academic member of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo in 2011.

She has completed Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education with SEDA accreditation from Staff Development Centre, University of Colombo in 2012. She has obtained her post graduate qualification MD (Ayu) in Swasthavritta and Yoga from Post graduate section of Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. She has completed 3 months foreign training in Swasthavritta and Yoga at Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India as a partial fulfillment of her post graduate.

Her research interests basically focused on public health and Yoga. She has presented several research papers at national and International conferences based on her specialized discipline.
