Dr. C. K. Gamage, serves as the Senior Assistant Librarian at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, with 24 years of experience in the university library sector. She earned a B.A. Special (Honours) degree in Sinhala from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 1994. Dr. Gamage joined the Institute of Indigenous Medicine Library, University of Colombo, in 2002 as an Assistant Librarian and was promoted to Senior Assistant Librarian Grade II in 2009. She completed her postgraduate studies in the Master of Library and Information Science at the University of Colombo in 2009 and was promoted to Senior Assistant Librarian (Grade I) in 2015. Dr. Gamage earned her PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Kelaniya in 2016. Later, from July 2023 to May 2025, she concurrently covered the duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Librarian of the SriPalee Campus, University of Colombo.
Dr. Gamage has authored 03 books and contributed approximately 30 research publications in the field of library and information science, with primary interests in Knowledge Organization and Dissemination, Indigenous Knowledge, and Collection Development. She contributes to professional education as a visiting lecturer for the Sri Lanka Library Association and as a course material developer for the BA (Hons) in Library and Information Studies (BALIS) programme at the Open University of Sri Lanka. She also serves as a peer reviewer for scholarly publications.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gamage has held numerous academic and administrative appointments in the field of library science. She is a Life Member of the Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka, a Member of the University Librarians Association, and an Associate Member of the Sri Lanka Library Association. Notably, within the SLLA, she has contributed significantly to organizational governance as a member of both the Council and the Executive Committee, and has served as the Education Officer for the 2024/2025 term.
