BIOGRAPHY

Dr.K.N.A.Dharmasena is a probationary lecturer at the Department of Dravyaguna Vignana(Ayurveda), Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. Currently, she is reading her Masters in Dravyaguna Vignana (Ayurveda Pharmacology) at National Institute of Ayurveda, Rajasthan, India.

Dr.Dharmasena studied at Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy and entered the university in 2004. She has graduated with an honor degree with two awards at the convocation, 2011. She has given her service to the Institute of Indigenous Medicine as a demonstrator for the department of Prasuti Tantra and Kaumarabritya in 2013-2014. Then she joined as an academic member of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, the University of Colombo in 2016 as her third entry of the university. Dr. Dahrmasena has contributed for department projects on the establishment of the medicinal plant nursery and clinical drug development, in her short academic period before the study leave.

In her multidisciplinary research approaches, she has presented several research papers on traditional medicine and medicinal plants at national and international conferences. Her research interest center around the intersection of Ayurveda pharmacology and pharmaceutics. Although, her current research is to find the capabilities of Ayurveda in sports medicine.
