L. M. Rifnas is a Lecturer (Currently on study leave) at the Department of Agro-Technology, University of Colombo Institute for Agro-Technology and Rural Sciences, Weligatta, Hambantota since March 2021. He completed his BSc. in Agriculture (Hons) degree with second class upper division at the faculty of Agriculture, Eastern University of Sri Lanka and completed his MPhil degree at Faculty of Science, University of Colombo. He is currently following his PhD in Plant Science at School of Agriculture and Environment, Massey University of New Zealand.
He started his career in 2018 as a Temporary Demonstrator at Department of Agricultural Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, Eastern University of Sri Lanka, then he joined University of Colombo Institute for Agro-Technology and Rural Sciences as a Temporary Demonstrator and extended his service at the same place as a Research Assistant at World Bank funded AHEAD/ICE project.
