Dr. Chiranthi Wijesundara, currently serves as an Senior Assistant Librarian at the Main Library, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has more than 10 years of working experience as an academic librarian and, prior she has served at several private institutions as well.
She earned her doctoral degree in Informatics in the year 2019 from the Graduate School of Library, Information and Media Studies, University of Tsukuba, Japan, and she obtained a MSc in Library, Information and Media Studies from the same university. Dr. Wijesundara has earned her BA degree in Archaeology with a First Class Honors and MSc in Geo-Information from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka prior to her higher education in abroad.
She has memberships in several organizations such as ASIS&T (Association for Information Science and Technology) in USA, CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) in UK, GISSL (Geo-Information Society of Sri Lanka), etc.
Meantime she serves as a program coordinator for the Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science (PGDip (LIS)) and Masters in Library and Information Science (MLS), and as a visiting lecturer at the National Institute of Library & Information Sciences (NILIS), University of Colombo.
Dr. Wijesundara has contributed for more than 15 publications and her research interests are in cultural heritage information aggregation and its related metadata technologies, Geo-Informational applications for Cultural Heritage Preservation, Digital Libraries and Linked Open Data.
