Sajeewanie D. Somaratna, currently serves as the Senior Assistant Librarian (Grade I) of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Mrs. Somaratna obtained B.Sc. Special (Honors) degree in Zoology (2001) from the University of Colombo, Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (2004) and Master of Library & Information Science (2009) from the University of Colombo. She completed Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) in 2011 and also an Accredited Teacher in Higher Education by SEDA, UK. She served as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Zoology in the University of Colombo in 2003 and after joining as the Assistant Librarian of the Library in 2005, up-to-date she has 14 years of experience in the university library sector.
She serves as a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo and the National Institute of Library and Information Science. She is also a member of the University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Association for the Improvement of Higher Education Effectiveness (SLAIHEE). She has contributed around 15 publications in service quality management, LIS education and millennials’ expectations from academic libraries. She served as the editor in chief of the Journal of University Librarians Associations of Sri Lanka and also served in the editorial boards and the reviewers panels of SLAIHEE, University Research Symposium and the University Librarians Association, Sri Lanka.
