Dr. Pradeepa Wijetunge, currently Librarian, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and the Co-ordinator of the Consortium of Sri Lankan Academic Libraries has 32 years of experience in the university library sector. From 2002 to 2008 she also served as the Founder Director of the National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS), University of Colombo.
Dr. Wijetunge obtained B.A. Special (Honours) degree in Philosophy from the University of Peradeniya, Diploma in Library & Information Science from University of Colombo, Master of Librarianship (in Library Automation) from University College of Wales, Aberystwyth UK, Doctor of Philosophy from University of Colombo, Master’s in Information Studies (Knowledge Management) from the University of Canberra, Australia and Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies from University of Colombo.
She is a Fellow of the Sri Lanka Library Association and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) of the UK and a member of the Sri Lanka Library Association, University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Association for the Improvement of Higher Education Effectiveness (SLAIHEE). She has contributed over 75 publications in LIS education, Knowledge Management, Information Literacy and several other LIS related themes and held the esteemed position of President of the Sri Lanka Library Association and the University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka.
