Ms. Poornima Gamage is an academic in the department of International Business, currently teaching a wide range of subjects including Elements of International Business, Strategic Management, Global Marketing, International Human Resource Management (IHRM), and Global Leadership for second-year, third-year, and final-year undergraduates at the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo.

She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in International Business from the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, graduating with a Merit Pass and receiving two Gold Medals for Operations and Quality Management (Haychem Ltd. Award) and Organizational Behavior (Jinasena Award). She also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with First Class Honors, specializing in International Business, from the same faculty. Poornima completed her O/L and A/L education at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo 07, laying the foundation for her academic and professional journey.

Poornima is currently a Lecturer in the Department of International Business at the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, and serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) and Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo. Ms. Poornima has over four years of higher education teaching experience across undergraduate, diploma, higher diploma, and postgraduate programs the Master of Management Studies (Foreign Batch). Additionally, she has taught Business Communication for advanced diploma and master’s programs and contributed to curriculum development, including collaboration with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the Sri Lankan Aviation Academy curriculum. Prior to her academic appointments, she gained professional experience as a Project Coordinator at SriLankan Airlines and as a Finance Intern at Sri Lanka Customs, providing practical insights into organizational management and operations.

She holds a Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs (Distinction) from the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute, a Diploma in Management and Information Systems from the National Institute of Business Management, a Certificate in Teaching Higher Education from the University of Colombo, and the SEDA accreditation from the United Kingdom. In addition to her teaching, Poornima has held a range of administrator and coordinator roles. She serves as coordinator of the Business Case Club, training students for local and international competitions such as the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition, the Thailand University Business Case Competition (TUBC), and the Asian Business Case Competition (ABCC), with a notable achievement of third place in the second round of the Hong Kong University Business Case Competition in 2024. She is also a coordinator and academic advisor at FMF Media, guiding students in developing professional skills.

She is a member of the Quality Assurance Cell at FMF, Secretary of the Doctoral Colloquium 2024, 2022, and an editorial committee member of IRCMF 2024. She serves as a Personal Tutor for first-year students, an academic advisor for enterprise-based and community development projects, and is a member and reviewer of the Academy of International Business (AIB). She has also served as a judge for the SLITAD People Award, recognizing corporates for excellence in HR practices. Her research interests focus on International Human Resource Management (IHRM), Cross-Cultural Management, Expatriate Management, Global Leadership, Strategic Management in Multinational Enterprises, International Marketing, and Organizational Behavior in Global Contexts.
