Department of Management and Organization Studies
Sashika R. Abeydeera Manoratne is the current Head of the Department of Management and Organization Studies, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. She is a passionate educator in sustainability, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, management process and practice. Her research interests include sustainability and business, regenerative business models, sustainability and spirituality, intercultural competencies, and responsible management education.
Professor Manoratne is the co-founder of the University’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Platform established in 2020, during her tenure as the Director of the International Office of the University of Colombo (2019-2023). Sashika currently serves as a member of the Board of Management of the Centre for Environmental Law and Policy (CELP) of the Faculty of Law and as a board member of the Centre for Meditation and Research (CMR) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo.
Moreover, she is a founding member of LEAP! (that stands for Leverage resources, Expand awareness, Accelerate change and Partner) a global Working Group on the Sustainability Mindset based in the United States, a part of PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education), the academic arm of the United Nations Global Compact.
Sashika obtained her BSc in Management (Public) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2002. She served as a Temporary Tutor at the Department of Public Administration, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, for a few years before joining the Department of Management, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo as a permanent lecturer in 2005.
Sashika is a Fulbright Scholar. She pursued her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now known as Middlebury Institute of International Studies), California, in 2009. Sashika obtained her doctoral degree (PhD) from the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, in 2017 on a New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship.
