Mr. Venuka Batagoda is a Lecturer in the Department of International Business, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. He is currently reading for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) specializing in International Business at the University of Colombo. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), specializing in International Business, with First Class Honours and a GPA of 3.9258 from the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. He also holds a Professional Diploma in Supply Chain Management from the Association of Business Executives (UK).
Venuka currently teaches in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme at the University of Colombo, with teaching interests spanning Elements of International Business, International Trade Theory and Practice, Supply Chain Management, International Finance, Strategic Management, Managerial Economics, and Event Management. Prior to joining the University of Colombo, he served as a Temporary Assistant Lecturer attached to the Department of Management, Faculty of Business, NSBM Green University. He has also completed the MaTE (Making Teaching Effective) course offered by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), University of Colombo, and the Certificate in Business English offered by the University of Colombo.
His research interests include Multinational Enterprises (MNEs), international business and supply chain-related studies, neurodiversity in the workplace, and learning pedagogy. His research has also received recognition at the international level. He was awarded Best Presenter in the Business Sustainability track at the First International Conference on Business Sustainability held in November 2024. During his undergraduate studies, he was also awarded the Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation Scholarship 2021 on merit for excellent academic performance at the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Venuka serves as the Club Advisor and Senior Treasurer of the FMF Music Circle at the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. He is also the Secretary of the Doctoral Colloquium of the International Research Conference on Management and Finance (IRCMF), organized by the Faculty of Management and Finance. His academic contributions further include research supervision within the Department and serving as an Academic Advisor for students undertaking Community Development Projects.
During his undergraduate career, Venuka served as the Vice President of the International Business Students’ Association and was a founding member of the FMF Music Circle. He also contributed as a Blog Team Member of the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. His academic and professional interests centre on international business, multinational enterprises, supply chain management, sustainability, and innovative approaches to learning and pedagogy.
