Dr. D.M.C.S Jayasundara

Primary education obtained from St Mary’s College and then Maris Stella College Negombo

Entered the University of Kelaniya in 1999

Passed out in 2005 with distinctions in Pharmacology Community and Family Medicine, Microbiology Parasitology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, He has also won the gold medal for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Obtained a second-class upper division honor at the end of course assessments.

Did an internship at the professorial medical unit Colombo under Professor Rizvi Sheriff and CSHW under Dr Ajitha Wijesundera who was the inspiration for pursuing his career in obstetrics and gynaecology.

He was placed number one at the MD Obstetrics and Gynaecology part 2 examinations held by the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine in the year 2010.

He obtained his foreign training at Sunshine Hospital, Victoria Australia where he was able to provide foreign appointment for numerous young Senior Registrars later.

He obtained his Membership in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in year 2013 while working in Australia.

After returning to Sri Lanka in 2014 he worked for a short period at DGH Mullaithu, BH Awissawella, and BH Homagama as an acting Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

He joined the University of Peradeniya, Obstetrics and Gynaecology department as a Senior Lecturer in 2016

In 2017 he joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Colombo. He has been the department head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Colombo from 2022 to the present.
