Prof. Eranga Wijewickrama is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. He graduated from the university of Colombo in 2002 with second class upper honors.

His research interests include Venom induced acute kidney injury and thrombotic microangiopathy, Chronic Kidney Disease of uncertain aetiology (CKDu) in Sri Lanka.

Professor Eranga Wijewickrama is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, and an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and the National Institute of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation. A clinician-scientist and educator, his research focuses on venom-induced acute kidney injury, thrombotic microangiopathy, and chronic kidney disease of uncertain etiology (CKDu).

He has published extensively in leading international journals and contributed to the International Society of Nephrology’s global kidney health initiatives. He has also played a key role in advancing regional research collaborations and shaping policy for kidney disease prevention and management in Sri Lanka and South Asia.

Prof. Wijewickrama is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), the Ceylon College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology, and the International Society of Nephrology. He has served in leadership positions within national and international professional societies, supporting innovation in clinical care, education, and health systems.

Deeply committed to academic development, he is actively engaged in postgraduate training, mentorship, and collaborative research networks. Through these efforts, he continues to strengthen the next generation of clinicians and researchers while contributing to equitable global kidney health.
