Dr. Naveen Wijekoon graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo in 2007, with Second Class (Upper Division) Honours. He was also awarded distinctions in Clinical Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Microbiology and Biochemistry and 5 medals including Professor Rajasuriya prize in Clinical Medicine.

He joined the Department of Surgery in 2014 as a lecturer and later obtained his MD in Surgery. During his post-MD training at Monash Children’s Hospital in Australia, he worked as a registrar in Paediatric Surgery and a clinical fellow in the Department of Paediatric Urology. Since 2018, he has been working as an Honorary Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at the Lady Ridegway Hospital for Children. Currently, he also holds the position of the Joint Secretary of the Sri Lanka Association of Paediatric Surgeons (SLAPS).

His research interests include bladder and bowel dysfunction (BBD), incontinence in children, paediatric colorectal conditions and proximal hypospadias.
