Dr. Nirosha Priyadarshani Edirisinghe entered the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in July 2006 as an undergraduate in BSc in Nursing Degree Programe (Second batch in Sri Lanka) and obtained Second Class Honors for her first degree. Then, she joined Lanka Hospitals PLC and worked as a Nursing Officer in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Then she changed her career pathway and joined as a Temporary Demonstrator at the same department where she studied for Bachelor’s degree. She has worked as Temporary Demonstrator at the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at Kotelawala Defence University and as Assistant lecturer at Kaatsu International University. Dr. Nirosha Edirisinghe completed her postgraduate qualifications PhD from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a Gold medal for research excellence in the field of Medical Sciences. During her postgraduate studies she was attached as a Research Assistant to the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. After that she served as Senior Lecturer (Higher Grade) to the School of Nursing, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. At present, she serves the University of Colombo as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Faculty of Nursing.
During Dr. Nirosha’s tenure in the SLIIT, she was appointed to various Academic as well as administrative positions. She has served as the Member of several committees of International Research Conference and Secretory of the Quality Assurance Cell of the Faculty.
Dr. Nirosha’s expertise includes Holistic assessment of Cancer pain, tool development and validation, health informatics. She has published numerous research articles in local and internationally reputed journals.
