Mrs. Nettasinghe Appuhamillage Ranjani Nettasinghe received her secondary education from Shanghabidi central college, Nittambuwa and entered the school of nursing, Colombo in 1980. After successfully completing three years of Diploma in Nursing in 1983 she was awarded Ellen Crow price for most outstanding student of medicine and medical nursing for the final year examination by the ministry of health Sri Lanka. N.A.R. Nettasinghe started her career as a staff nurse in the surgical intensive care unit in National Hospital in Sri Lanka and she worked different units in cardiology in National Hospital as a staff nurse. She was selected for tutor training in Diploma in teaching and supervision course by the ministry of health from a very competitive examination. After successful completion of the course, she was appointed as a Nursing tutor (Grade 01) in School of Nursing Kandana by Ministry of Health. She has gained enough experience in teaching almost all the subject for diploma in nursing and diploma in family health since 1999-2004. Then she transferred to the school of nursing Colombo and she was promoted as a special grade nursing officer (education) for post basic college, the only higher education institute for nursing education under the Ministry of Health in 2008.
She is a registered nurse and registered midwife in the Nursing council and medical council respectively.
Mrs Ranjani Nettasinghe was promoted to the principal college of nursing, Ampara in 2011 by the ministry of health. She was the principal school of Nursing, Mulleriyawa( special- mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing) and School of nursing, Colombo.
She obtained her basic degree from Open University, Colombo and completed post-graduate certificate of health professional education (PGIM), University of Colombo and Master of Health Sciences (Kristianstad University, Sweden).
She is a member of the Sri Lanka nursing association and Graduate nurse Foundation and was an advisor of the nurse-midwife association.
She has successfully completed the advanced international training programme for strengthening and midwifery Competence in sexual and reproductive health and service (Karolinska Institute, Sweden), Community-oriented nursing education (Mohidol & Khon Kaen University, Thailand) and educational visit (Emergency Nursing) for South Korea.
She received certificates for management of development from Sri Lanka Institute of development Administration and English language skills for nursing education and master trainer course for English language teaching from British council, Colombo.
She is the author of few chapters of the course book issued by OUSL in diploma in nursing, critical nursing and psychiatric emergencies Inje University, South Korea. She was a facilitator for the Nursing intensive Care skills programme conducted by the Ministry of Health and International Development of Collaborative Programme workshops conducted by Inje University, South Korea and the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka.
She joined to the Faculty of Nursing, University of Colombo, as senior lecturer (Gr. II) in 2018 and appointed as the head of the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing June 2018
