BIOGRAPHY

Ms. Kithmini Aviruppola, is a Lecturer (Probationary) of the Department of Private and Comparative Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo Sri Lanka.  She is an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. She obtained her LLB Degree with second class (Honours) upper division from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

She has obtained two diplomas, one in International Relations (2013) from the Bandaranaike Center for International Studies and another in Diplomacy and
World Affairs (2016) from Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI); and also a certificate in Human Rights (2015) from the Center for Human Rights, University of Peradeniya.

After graduating, she successfully completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs -2018 (BIDTI)  for which she obtained a special award in recognition of the research completed. She has conducted researches in different areas such as; the Legal Framework of Sustainable Energy in Sri Lanka, Practicality and Applicability of International Law Regarding the North Korean Nuclear Missile Crisis, Policy Framework to face Urban Water Crisis in Sri Lanka, and Institutional and Legal Framework Governing Climate Change in Sri Lanka. Apart from the said areas of public international law, she has also conducted research on the area of private law, including the practicality of Bolam and Bolitho tests and the importance of reforming the fault based liability system, particularly, for matters pertaining to medical negligence.
