Nath Gunawardena completed his Master of Laws (LL.M.) as a Chevening Scholar (2024/25) at the University of Edinburgh. His LL.M. focused on subjects relating to legal theory, and his dissertation proposed a virtue-theoretic approach to university legal education.
He is interested in research relating to technological jurisprudence, legal reasoning, legal education, and broader questions of legal philosophy.
Prior to joining the Faculty of Law, he served as an Assistant Lecturer at the Legal Studies Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, completed a research internship at Verité Research, and taught International Advanced Level (IAL) Law at S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Law of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons).
He joined the Faculty of Law of the University of Colombo in 2022 and is currently a Lecturer (Probationary) attached to the Department of Private and Comparative Law.
