Asela Dissanayake is a Lecturer attached to the Department of Public and International Law. He completed her Bachelor of Laws Degree with honours at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo in 2013. Thereafter, he completed her Attorneys – at – Law examination at Sri Lanka Law College in 2014. In 2019,He Completed his LL.M in Criminal Justice Administration at the Open University of Sri Lanka. Further, He has obtained another LL.M in International Business Law with Magana Cum Laude (Higher Distinction) at the Institute of International Business Law, University of Fribourg.
He commenced his legal career in December 2014 as a Temporary Tutor of the Legal Studies Unit, Department of Commerce, Faculty of Management studies and Commerce,University of Sri Jayewardanapura where she taught Legal Environment, Commercial Law and Corporate Law for Management Students.
After two years of experience as an academia, he started to work at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka which is one of the apex financial institutes of the country in the capacity of Executive Officer and Assistant Manager. Further ,he has certain other corporate experience in the Capacity of Manage- Compliance.
He joined the staff of the Department of Public and International Law in October 2023 .He currently teaches Criminal Law, Public International Law and International Humanitarian Law at the undergraduate level. Mr.Dissanayake is the Course Director for Anti Corruption Law at the postgraduate level and contributing to the Masters Programmes offered by the Faculty.
Mr.Disssanayake’s research interests are in Anti Corruption Law, Drug Offences, Criminal Justice, International Law and politics and Intellectual Property Law. He has published both locally and internationally and has been working for recognized research projected.
