BIOGRAPHY

Kusal Kavinda Amarasinghe is an Attorney-at-Law and a legal academic. He currently works as a Lecturer (Probationary) affiliated to the Department of Public and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo.

Mr Amarasinghe completed his Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo in 2018. In 2019 he joined the Centre for the Study of Human Rights, University of Colombo as a Researcher. Subsequent to joining the bar in 2020 as an Attorney-at-Law Mr Amarasinghe started his professional career as a junior defense counsel.

Mr Amarasinghe was awarded University Scholarship, Gate Mudliyer Edmond Peiris Prize and Ajita Parathalingam Memorial Prize in 2015. Also, he was awarded the University Colour Insignia in 2016 as a Gold Medalist of International Student’s Olympic Games 2016.

Currently, he is following his Master of Laws degree in International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law and Criminal Justice at Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. In addition, Mr Amarasinghe is an author of several scholarly articles published in nationally and internationally.
