Mr. D.G.R.L. Gunarathna is currently serving as an Assistant Librarian at the Postgraduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. His academic journey commenced with the completion of his BA (Special) degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Kelaniya in 2017. Mr. Gunarathna transitioned to the private academic sphere, where he dedicated several years to serving as a librarian in esteemed educational institutes Mr. Gunarathna pursued higher education, culminating in the completion of a MSSc in Library and Information Science from the University of Kelaniya in 2023.
Since September 15, 2021, Mr. Gunarathna has been an integral part of the Postgraduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine, where he serves as an Assistant Librarian. Beyond his primary role, he actively participates in various committees. He holds positions such as Secretary of the Library Committee, Convener of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and Coordinator of the Journal of the Postgraduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine (JPGIIM). Additionally, Mr. Gunarathna takes on the responsibility of Editor for the institute’s Newsletter. Mr. D.G.R.L. Gunarathna’s research interests include collection development, reading habits, information seeking behavior, public relations, and bibliometric analysis.
