Multi-cultural Experiences

  • July, 1995 – May, 1997: I read for my master degree in India, majoring in linguistics, where I followed course units such as ethno-linguistics, socio-linguistics with students from Sudan, Yemen, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal and India. I was able to learn more about their cultures while studying in India. Similarly, I could learn about different conflicts in India due to issues on ethnicity, religion, language, and gender.
  • April, 2001 – March, 2002 : I had been studying Japanese language and culture for a year with students from Chili, Philippine. Armenia, Rumania, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Brazil, Egypt, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Korea and China, where we exchanged our cultures with each other. Moreover, I studied more about different cultural aspects of them such as food, festivals, communicative behaviors etc. while we were living in the same dormitory.
  • April, 2002 – March, 2005: I read for my PhD in Japan with students from Chili, Philippine, Armenia, Rumania, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Brazil, Egypt, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Korea and China. I had the opportunity to attend many cultural exchange programs and learn the different aspects of intercultural communication among people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • 2004, November, 2006, March: While I was serving as a part-time Assistant English Language Teacher to Japanese students, I could learn more about Japanese students’ psyche, individual differences, communicative differences and the education system.
  • I have attended several international conferences in Russia, Korea, Portugal, Thailand and Japan.
  • The summer course on peace studies I attended in Hiroshima City University, Japan gave me an opportunity to study peace with students from many countries such as Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, America, Cuba, Russia, America etc. and understand different issues they raised on peace and conflicts in their countries.
