Dr Nadeesha

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Nadeesha Lewke Bandara is currently working as a senior lecturer in plant molecular Biology in Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Colombo. She obtained her Ph.D. in Agricultural science and Biotechnology from University of Udine Italy in 2016.  She obtained her B.Sc Agriculture (Special) Degree from University of Ruhuna in 2006 with a second class upper. She has nine years work experience as a researcher in plant science with internationally recognized research groups in Europe. She was a recipient of several international research fellowships including EU FP7 Marie curie initial training network research fellowship. Currently she is conducting her research activities on identification of rice thrips resistance genes in traditional Sri Lankan Rice Cultivars using SNPchip technology and Molecular taxonomy and phylogenetic reconstruction of endemic plant species in Sri Lanka.
