Shabnam Johoran serves as a Senior Assistant Librarian (Grade II) at the Main Library, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She earned a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Business Management from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2013.
Her professional career commenced in 2014 as an Assistant Librarian on a contract basis at Uva Wellassa University, where she served for two years and nine months. In April 2017, she joined the University of Colombo as an Assistant Librarian and was promoted to Senior Assistant Librarian (Grade II) in April 2022.
Ms. Johoran holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS). Her research interests primarily focus on library marketing, particularly strategies to enhance the visibility, promotion, and effective delivery of library services within academic environments.
She is a professional member of the University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka (ULA) and the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA). In recognition of her research contributions, she received the University of Colombo Senate Award for Research Excellence in the Early Career Category in both 2021 and 2023.
