Ongoing Research

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with 2-3% global prevalence and has been implicated as a disease with multifactorial etiology where geography, ethnicity, genetics, and environment play pivotal roles. Current studies are focused on exploring the genetic markers of Psoriasis in Sri Lankan patients to enable a better understanding of the disease etiopathology in the Sri Lankan setting, which will help clinicians with personalized risk assessment at the onset of the disease.

Osteoimmunology

OP is a debilitating bone disease that is caused due to flaws in the physiological bone remodeling process. OP is often associated with increased OC formation, decreased OB activity, and changes in bone microstructure leading to bone destruction. Sri Lanka, being an island nation is home to many tropical plants and many such unique plant formulas have been used traditionally in treating bone-related diseases. Thus, Our studies are focused on examining the anti-osteoporotic effects of Sri Lankan traditional polyherbal preparations in vivo & in vitro.
